CAR names Thornburg Active Duty Patriot of the Month

Hawthorn Society Children of the American Revolution salutes George Thornburg as its “Active Duty Patriot” of the Month for August.
George enlisted in the United States Army in May 2006. He completed his basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. Unit: 1st BCT ( Brigade Combat Team) 82nd ABN ( Airborne) 2-504 PIR (Parachutist Infantry Regiment). 1st BCT 82nd ABN 2-504 PIR. George’s home base is Ft. Bragg, NC. George is currently serving his second tour of duty in Iraq.
As an avid reader, as George was packing his duffle bag before leaving for Iraq, he made use of all available space for books.
George attends the Methodist Church in Huntsville when home.
George was a member of the CAPS ( Civil Air Patrol) during his seventh grade of school. George was a lifetime member of the Howard County Lewis and Clark CAR ( Children of the American Revolution) until he aged out at the age of 22. He is now a member of the M. Graham Clark Society SAR ( Sons of the American Revolution).
George is the son of Matt and Diane Thornburg of Huntsville, and Cynthia and Dave Harkey of Kampsville, IL. He is the grandson of Rick and Nadine Thornburg of Huntsville, MO and Eddie and Nancy Thomas of Moberly,MO.
