Boots takes on role of new city accountant

Melissa Boots is the new accountant for the City of Moberly. She replaces Phyllis Bradshaw who was arrested Nov. 10 for stealing from the city.
Melissa is a Randolph County native, having grown up in Clark before moving to the big city of Moberly. She is married to Rodney Boots who works fulltime on the family farm and serves as asistant chief of the Easter rural Fire District. They have a son, Hunter.
Melissa has an associate’s degree in accounting from MACC. She has worked several years in collections and leasing. Her new job will give her a chance to get back to her original intention of accounting.
Melissa has been with the city a little over a month. She has been learning how to process business licenses and has been working heavily in reconciliations.
“They’ve been wonderful,” Melissa said of her new boss and co-workers. “It has been a nice transition.”
While Melissa is taking over the same job as Bradshaw held, it is now called “accountant’ rather than Deputy Finance Director.
“There are no real changes in the duties and responsibilities, just the authority level in-house,” said Finance Director Greg Hodge. This also opens the door for possibility of future promotion.”
Hodge said Melissa has worked out very well.
“I’m very happy to have he ron board and she is proving her mettle already,” he said.
