USDA to host CSP meetings
Submitted - June 4, 2010The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) sign-up for 2010 has been announced and runs through Friday, June 11. To help you better understand the program and the changes that have been implemented for this sign-up we have scheduled informational meetings. You are welcome to attend any of the meetings in the two county areas that work in your schedule.
June 2 – 7:30 a.m. at the USDA Service Center, Moberly.
June 7 – 7:30 a.m. at the USDA Service Center, Keytesville.
As a reminder, in order to be eligible for the CSP you must be listed as operator on FSA (Farm Service Agency) records for ground you want included in your CSP application. We ask that you RSVP to either office by Wednesday, June 2 if you plan to attend a meeting so that we can have your 1026 (record of farms that you operate) available for you at the meeting for your review.
To RSVP call the Randolph Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) at 660-263-5702 ext 3 or the Chariton Natural Resources Conservation Service at 660-288-3279 ext 3.
Potential applicants are encouraged to use the CSP self-screening checklist to determine if the new program is suitable for their operation. The checklist highlights basic information about CSP eligibility requirements, contract obligations and potential payments. It is available from local USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service offices or on the NRCS Web site at http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/new_csp/csp.html.
CSP offers payments for adding conservation practices and maintaining and managing existing conservation practices.
