Merrell University graduated six cosmetology students Thursday, June 17. The graduates, Alyssa Banks, Lori Davidson, Sarah Frazier, Melinda Kerns, Nicole Kinghorn and Alisha Wiley will now prepare to take the state board of cosmetology examination. Once each graduate has passed her board exams she will then be licensed and ready to work in the salon industry.

Chris Elliott, Merrell University administrator, opened the ceremonies with a few words about seeking and reaching one’s potential. Peggy Swon, classroom instructor, shared a Thomas Kincaid devotion and Marcie Olivas, educational director, presented diplomas.

A slide show, prepared by the graduates, was presented, by Sarah Frazier. Pictures of the students’ experiences while at Merrell University were included in the slide show.

To close the ceremonies, Sarah also shared an inspirational song: “Walk on the Water” by Britt Nichole.

A reception followed in the school’s cafeteria and the students enjoyed a “Mexican Fiesta”.
